After Derek Bell at Silverstone and Jochen Mas at Spa, Allan McNish will be the Grand Marshal of the third round of the World Endurance Championship , namely the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Retired from competition since the end of 2013 with a title of World Champion in his pocket and a third victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans , the 44 year old Scot, who is also an Ambassador for Audi, has been honoured with the position by the ACO & FIA.

In 14 appearances at the 24 Hours of Le Mans  McNish finished on 10 occasions , including three wins: 1998/2008/2013 . His first start was in 1997 driving a Porsche 911 GT1 shared with Stéphane Ortelli and Karl Wendlinger, sadly the trio managed only 8 laps. In 1998 he things were far better with a victory with Stéphane Ortelli and Laurent Aiello. The following year he joined Toyota but the  GT-One sadly did not finish. Then in 2000 the Audi years began and continued up until his World Championship win in 2013. Between the R8, R10 TDI, R15 TDI, R15+ TDI, R18 TDI and R18 e-tron quattro, the native of Dumfries has been a constant front-runner for the Audi marque.
