As many of you know Audi run a slightly different R18 TDI e-tron quattro in terms of aerodynamics  for the 24 Hours of Le Mans when compared to the version they run for the WEC rounds. Here is a quick run through with pictures of a few of the major differences

FRONT

  • Firstly the Le Mans version features a different front end (albeit subtle)

Compared to the WEC version which has opening on the top of the wheels, slightly different front grille shape, as well as a slightly different front splitter

Here you can see that the Le Mans specification version contains differences in aero parts to reduce the amount of down force compared to the WEC version (note also the differing front fins). The length of the car is also different as well as the alignment of the rear wing to the back of the car (it is flush in the Le Mans spec car)

REAR & EXHAUST

There are also differences at the rear of the car; overall shape, areo parts and exhaust.

Note how the spoiler/rear fin of the Le Mans spec sits flush with the rear body work and a specially modified shaped exhaust.
