Alex Brundle set the fastest time, along with a new LMP2 track record this morning in the second of the European Le Mans Series free practice sessions. The 1:38.921 lap gave the #32 Oreca 07 an average lap speed of 210.0 Kph. Flying Dutchman Nyck De Vries was a mere 0.077s behind Brundle’s time, his 1:38.998 putting him into second spot for the session. Rounding out the three fastest LMP2s was the sister #22 United Autosports car in which Filipe Albuquerque set a 1:39.053. While all these times do indeed look very close, perhaps an easier way to visualise how closely matched these cars and drivers are is to look at their lap speeds of which 0.3 kph separates the top three!
