No 21 AF Racing BR01 - Nissan, LMP2, Mikhail Aleshin, Kirill Ladygin, Victor Shaytar, ELMS Le Castellet 2015

Free practice kicked off here at Paul Ricard under blues skies with temperatures in the late teens, almost ideal if it were not for the ever present ‘Mistral’ wind blowing directly down the straights. While the drivers suffered a fierce headwind on the start/finish straight this turned into a useful tail wind along the length of the aptly-named Mistral Straight at the rear of the circuit.

The first 90 minute session saw AF Racing’s BR01 Nissan chassis set the time to beat in the LMP2 class with a 1:47.986 lap, followed by the ORECA 03R-Nissan of Murphy Prototypes approx. half a second behind. Third fastest in the P2 class were Greeves Motorsport in the Gibson 015S Nissan 0.899 of a second behind the Russian machine.

In LMP3, the #2 & #3 Ginetta-Nissans of Team LNT again showed their pace with a 1:55.545 & 1:56.202 respectivly. The third LMP3 of SVK by Speed Factory set an initial time of 1:57.416 and although only 0.8s behind the #3 LNT car the gap was filled by the first three GTE cars of AF Corse (1:57.167), AT Racing (1:57.378) and BMW Team Marc VDS (1:57.398).

TDS Racing’s BMW Z4 GT3 set the morning’s fastest time in GTC over Massive Motorsport’s Aston Martin Vantage GT3 by 0.8s with the #62 Ferrari 458 Italia of AF Corse settling in for third.
