Winners of the European Le Mans Series 4 Hours of Le Castellet JOTA Sport have had their victory stripped following a stewards’ investigation for a drive-time violation.
It was determined that platinum driver Filipe Albuquerque, who drove the middle stint for the British team, had breached his 90 minute maximum drive time allocation by 1m 57s.
The stewards have imposed a 45 second penalty on the team meaning that Greaves Motorsport will move up from second place and will receive the full 25 points for a race victory.
The #21 AF Racing BR01 Nissan now officially moves up to second, giving the car its best result of the season.
The penalty moves JOTA Sport down to third place overall, picking up 15 points plus the extra point gained for pole position.
The decision drastically changes the overall ELMS championship, as JOTA Sport now has a slim one point advantage over Greaves Motorsport heading into the final round at Estoril in October.
