SMP Racing have been at the Paul Ricard test track in this week running endurance tests on the new BR01 prototype, built by the Russian company “BR Engineering”.

Drivers Maurizio Median, Nicolas Minassian, Cyril Ladigin, Anton Ladigin, Mikhail Aleshin, and Sergey Zlobin were all on had to test the new car which successfully completed a simulated 24-hour race at the French circuit covering a total of 6000 kms.

The Russian prototype demonstrated a steady pace and high reliability. During the final segment of the race simulation Anton Ladigin showed excellent speed and set the best lap time for the entire test. The car ran well and showed no technical problems.

“We tested the car in all possible modes, and it did not disappoint!” said FIA WEC LMP2 World Champion, and SMP Racing’s Sporting Director Sergey Zlobin.  “Reviews from our drivers were very positive. The prototype is definitely heading for a great future, and we are ready for the fight for the top step of the podium”.

The BR01 will make it’s race debut at the 4 Hours of Imola, which will be held May 17 in Italy, after which the car is entered into the 24 Hours of Le Mans in mid-June.

SMP Racing are running two prototypes in 2015, the BR01 will compete in the European Le Mans Series, as well as in the 24 Heures du Mans in the LMP2 category and an ORECA 03 in the WEC LMP2 category.
