The Dragonspeed Oreca 05 Nissan of Nicolas Lapierre, Henrik Hedman and Ben Hanley topped the timing sheets in Friday’s free practice session. SMP Racing’s soon-to-be-barred BR01 chassis continued to show great form finishing the session in second place a mere 0.093s behind the Oreca. The Greaves run Krohn Ligier JS P2 set the day’s third fastest clocking in a 2:05.832 lap.
In the ultra competitive LMP3 class United Autosports again showed their intention to dominate with the #2 Ligier JS P3 of Alex Brundle, Mike Gausch and Christian England topping the class time sheets with a 2:15.517 fastest lap. Second was another top-table regular the #16 car of Panis-Barthez Competition with the day’s third fastest P3 time going to the #18 car of M.Racing/YMR.
In GTE, the Ferrari 458s took the top two places with the all-black car of AT Racing setting the benchmark with a 2:19.130 laptime and Scotland’s JMW Motorsport 0.2s slower. Third was the #77 Porsche 911 RSR of Proton Competition. After a promising start Beechdean’s #99 Aston Martin Vantage slipped back to mid-table running approx 1s off the speed of the leading Ferraris.
