Anglo-American team United Autosports took the first free practice session by the throat today putting their two Oreca 07 LMP2s firmly at the top of the timing sheets in FP1.

Portuguese driver Filipe Albuquerque took the honours as the fastest driver of the day clocking in a 1:39.238 to put his #22 car at the top of the timing sheets. 0.162s behind him with a best lap of 1:39.400 was Alex Brundle in the sister #32 car. Ben Hanley took the #21 DragonSpeed Oreca to third spot with a respectable 1:39.417. The fastest (and only) Ligier JSP217 was the #34 Inter Europol Competition car some 1.733s behind the #32 in 14th spot.

In the LMP3 fight, it was United Autosports that again came out on top with Wayne Boyd taking class honours with a 1:47.949 in the #2 Ligier. David Droux was next up in the #8 Realteam Racing Ligier 0.366s behind Boyd. RLR MSport completed the top three with Malthe Jakobsen behind the wheel setting his fastest lap (1:48.437) on lap 5. Colin Noble, in the #7 Nielsen Racing car was the first of the Duqueine M30 D08 finishing in fifth place.

The Dempsey – Proton Racing Porsche 911 RSR took the GTE AM class ‘top step’ finishing 0.797s ahead of the #60 Iron Lynx Ferrari F488 GTE EVO when Alessio Picariello set a 1:51.197 on lap 10. Third was the #55 Spirit of Race Ferrari with a 1:52.713, over a second and a half off the pace of the Porsche, set by Matt Griffin.
