Double 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps winners Filipe Albuquerque and Phil Hanson got their weekend off to a good start by posting the fastest time of the opening practice session in Belgium.
The #22 United Autosports Oreca 07-Gibson lapped the 7km circuit in 2m03.456 in the hands of Albuquerque, 0.423 seconds ahead of the #21 Dragonspeed Oreca, with defending champions Idec Sport third quickest.
The 90-minute session was slightly delayed at the start when the #26 G-Drive Racing Aurus of Mikkel Jensen stopped on the opening lap at Eau Rouge. A Full Course Yellow was declared to recover the car before the session was given the green light to resume.

United Autosports also celebrated the top spot in the LMP3 class, with Wayne Boyd taking the fastest lap of 2m13.332 in the #2 Ligier JS P320-Nissan. Boyd’s lap was over six tenths ahead of his nearest rival, which was the #4 DKR Engineering Duqueine M30 of Laurents Hörr, with the third placed car, the #8 Realteam Racing Ligier another 1.2 seconds further back.

The 4 Hours of Le Castellet LMGTE winning #77 Proton Competition Porsche 911 RSR took the top spot in the GTE category, with Michele Beretta setting the fastest time of 2m19.180. The #83 Iron LynxFerrari of Rahel Frey was second fastest in the 90-minute session, with Frey’s time four tenths behind Beretta. The #93 Proton Competition was third quickest.
Free Practice 2 for the 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps will take place tomorrow morning at 10h35 CET.
