Sometime Sportscarglobal blogger Devon Modell has been drafted to race a Ginetta G57 prototype in the V de V Endurance Challenge at Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours this weekend.

Modell is more usually seen behind the wheel of a GT car having primarily raced Aston Martin racecars for the past three years as a member of the manufacturer’s prestigious Evolution Academy, but the young charger is preparing for his first outing in prototypes at Magny-Cours as teammate to fellow countryman Ollie Jackson in a Race Performance-run Ginetta G57.

The Race Performance team has been a season-long competitor in the V de V GT/Touring Car/LMP3 Endurance Challenge and broke its race wins duck in the most recent round of the series at L’autodromo del Mugello in the rolling Tuscan hills of Italy.

Modell has been welcomed to the fold as the team looks to double-up on its Mugello victory in the forthcoming four-hour endurance race at Magny-Cours in France’s Loire Valley, and the Kent-based driver is keen to deliver during a weekend that has the potential to expand his own horizons for the 2017 season and beyond.

“This is an exciting opportunity that came through a long-term connection in motorsport and it’s going to be my first experience of Magny-Cours and prototypes,” said Modell. “I have no idea what to expect, but it might grow into something for 2017.

“Magny-Cours appears to be a fun track to drive and I believe it might suit an aero car. It’s hard to know how I might have to adapt my driving style, but this will be the first time I’ve driven a car without ABS for two years so that will take a little getting used to. However, Race Performance wants to win and that’s why they’ve drafted me in as opposed to a gentleman driver, but the main thing is to have fun and enjoy the experience.”
