With the race four hours old, we at SportsCarGlobal (SCG) got to thinking about those not here this year. One name sprung to mind, Simon Dolan (SD), as his team Jota Sport are here supporting, servicing and running the two car effort for Jackie Chan DC Racing (JC DCR). So we got in touch with Simon to get his impressions of the race to-date.
SCG – What do you think of the Race so far?
SD – I am glued to my TV it looks to be a very close race, and I can definitely see an LMP2 car (most likely an Oreca 07) on the overall podium. That is good news for JC DCR as we have two professional run cars with excellent driver line-ups.
SCG – Any Concerns surfacing Simon?
SD – Well the LMP2 cars are quite fragile, and over this distance are largely unproven. Also noting the pace, professionalism and strength of the Vaillante Rebellions, formerly of course an LMP1 runner, they look to be very capable and competitive. But keep an eye on the renewed #Mighty38 it is looking good. I believe it will come back at the Rebellions. Expect it to lead by morning!
SD – Incredibly hard, and way harder than I had imagined. I will be back at Le Mans next year that is for sure.
