A cloudless sky and temperatures in the late 20’s greeted us at southern France’s iconic Circuit Paul Ricard in the foothills of the Var as it sweeps down to the Mediterranean sea. The track action kicked of at 10:05 with the first of the Free Practice sessions.

Fifteen minutes in the session was red-flagged when Claudio Sdanewitsch in the #55 Spirit of Race Ligier JS-P3 hit the barriers in sector 2 damaging the rear of the car and requiring it to be recovered and ending the session for the Swiss team.

The race restarted at 10:26 with the Kox Racing Ligier of Nico Pronk setting the pace for much of the session in the Ligier JS P3 until Belgian Jean Glorieux edged the DKR Engineering Norma M30 to the top of the table by 0.4s on lap 11 setting a session fastest time of 2:04.389. Third fastest time went to Colin Noble in the Nielson Racing Ligier setting a 2:05.047 on the very final lap. 

Phil Keen set the session’s fastest time in the GT3 field with a 2:07.157 on lap 9 in his Lee Mowle Mercedes AMG GT3. Joe Osbourne took the Optimum Racing Audi R8 he shares with Flick Haigh to second place 0.013s ahead of Steeve Hiesse’s SCV Sport Management Lamborghini Huracan GT3.
