
Once again Rebellion topped the timing sheets in the second free practice session for the FIA WEC 6h Spa this morning. This time it was American Gustavo Menezes who put in the top time lapping the 7km Ardennes track in 2:00.878. Next up were the two Toyota TS050 Hybrids, Kiwi Brendan Hartley in the #8 car just pipping team mate Kamui Kobayashi to second spot by 0.042s.

The LMP2 class had a different look from yesterday with the #36 Signatech Alpine ELF topping the times thanks to a 2:03.371 lap set by Thomas Laurent. Despite an accident at Turn 13 for Frits van Eerd ending their session a little early, a 2:03.978 lap from Job van Uitert was enough to secure the Racing Team Nederland second spot in the session.


Closing out the top three was the #22 United Autosports Oreca in which Paul di Resta put in a lap of 2:04.533.

GTE Pro saw Aston Martin Racing comfortably at the top of the timing sheets with the #97 Aston Martin Vantage AMR taking top spot thanks to another blistering lap by home circuit driver Maxime Martin, the Belgian setting a 2:14.678. 0.667s behind him was the irrepressible Nicki Thiim in the sister #95 car. The top three was closed out by Miguel Molina in the #71 AF Corse Ferrari 488 GTE EVO.

Last but not least, LM GTE AM which featured a Ferrari sandwich in the top three spots; Porsche taking first and third with a Ferrari in between. Fastest of the Porsches was the ‘freshly’ (see what we did there?) re-liveried Mentos #56 Team Project 1 car in the hands of Mateo Cairoli who clocked in a 2:16.991 lap. The Ferrari in the sandwich was the ivory coloured #54 AF Corse car in which Giancarlo Fisichella managed a 2:17.410. The Wynns liveried sister #57 Team Project 1 of Texan Ben Keeting in which Felipe Fraga clock in a 2:17.418.
