For the third time in two days the Swiss Rebellion team have topped the timing sheets at Spa Francorchamps. American Gustavo Menezes took the #1 Rebellion R13 – Gibson to the fastest lap in a shortened third free practice session setting a 1:59.605, the fastest lap to date of the week. Second and third spots went to the brace of Toyota TS050 Hybrids with the pair swapping places from the earlier session. Mike Conway guided the #7 car to second spot whilst Kazuki Nakajima set the fastest time in the #8 car for third.
In a hurriedly rebuilt and reliveried #29 Oreca 07, Racing Team Nederland set the fastest time in the LMP2 category thanks to a 2:03.170 from Giedo van der Garde. Paul di Resta again set the fastest time of the United Autosports trio to put the #22 car into second spot whilst the top three was closed out by the #42 Oreca 07 of Cool Racing.
GTE Pro was did not pan out as well as the earlier session for Aston Martin Racing the pair of Vantage GTEs being some two seconds off the pace. Fastest of the session was the #92 Porsche GT Team 911 RSR – 19 in which Michael Christensen set a lap time of 2:14.558. Second and third went to AF Corse with the #51 Ferrari 488 GTE EVO of Alessandro Pier Guidi edging out the sister #71 car by 0.634 of a second.
GTE Am saw the #83 Ferrari 488 GTE of Nicklas Nielsen top the times with a fastest lap of 2:16.833. Second place went to the #90 TF Sport Aston Martin Vantage GTE thanks to a 2:17.351 by Charlie Eastwood. Third in class was the #88 Dempsey – Proton Racing Porsche 911 with WEC debutant Lucas Legeret setting a very respectable time of 2:17.407.
