Despite suffering issues with pace on both earlier sessions, Sebastien Buemi took the #8 Toyota TS050 Hybrid first position in final Free Practice session in Mexico today with a lap of 1:25.789s.

However, all was not completely as it seems as Porsche’s Nick Tandy initially set a 1:25.678s lap to claim best time at the Circuito Hermanos Rodrigues but was penalised for speeding in pitlane and had his time deleted. As the session drew to a close, Anthony Davidson suffered a technical issue and slowed on track but made it back to the pits then quickly rejoined.

Mike Conway set a 1:26.069 on his second lap to place the #7 Toyota in third while Timo Bernhard was just 0.5s shy of him bringing his #2 Porsche into fourth spot in LMP1.

Alex Brundle took the top spot in LMP2 for Jackie Chan DC Racing setting a 1:33.130 on lap four. Signatech Alpine’s Nicolas Lapierre fell just short of Brubdle’s time by just 0.014s placing the Alpine A470 in second with Alex Lynn again the fastest of the G-Drive pilots putting his #26 G-Drive Racing Oreca-Gibson into third with a 1:33.150.

Briton Sam Bird made an appearance at the top of the LM GTE PRO class this session piloting his #71 AF Corse Ferrari to a 1:39.722. Ford recovered from the earlier doldrums to place second with Stefan Mücke just 0.0.096s behind Bird’s Ferrari. Frenchman Kevin Estre placed his #92 Porsche 911 RSR into third, just ahead of the sister #91.

In AM, Gulf Racing top the category with Ben Barker posting 1:41.069s lap in the British run #86 Porsche 911 RSR. For the third session, Matteo Cairoli was the fasted in the Dempsey Proton Porsche just 0.005s behind Barker. Clearwater Racing appeared to have addressed earlier pace issues with Matt Griffin setting a 1:42.012 to put the Asian Ferrari into third spot.
