
Toyota Gazoo Racing swept to pole position for tomorrow’s fourth round of the FIA World Endurance Championship at Germany’s Nürburgring.
In a qualifying session that saw numerous laps deleted for track limits infringements and Panciatici in the #35 Signatech Alpine reported to the stewards for dangerous driving Mike Conway and Kazumi Kobayashi set an average time of 1:38.118, 0.154 ahead of the #2 Porsche 9191 Hybrid. Porsche also took third spot with Andre Lotterer and Neel Jani setting a time of 1:38.278 in the #1 car. The #4 ByKOLLES car, again suffering an unknown issue, finished well down the timing sheets almost 10s off the LMP1-H times with all but the #34 Ligier LMP2 cars setting faster times.

G-Drive Racing took the class pole in LMP2 ahead of the #38 car of Jacky Chan DC Racing with an average time of 1:45.001. Third in class was the #31 Rebellian of Bruno Senna and Julian Canal. The sole Ligier, the #34 of Tockwith Motorsports, here as a shakedown for next week’s ELMS in Austria proves considerable slower than the Orecas closing out the class with a time of 1:48.104.

In the GTE classes the GTE Pro Pole Position went to Kevin Estre and Michael Christensen in the #92 mid-engined Porsche 911 RSR, 0.345 ahead of the #95 Aston Martin Vantage of Nicki Thiim and Marco Sorensen (1:54.352) with the #91 Porsche 911 RSR rounding out the top three.

In GTE-Am, Aston Martin topped the class times with the Pro-Am pairing of Pedro Lamy and Paul Dalla Lana taking the #98 Vantage to an average time of 1:56.721. Dempsey Proton Racing was second with the #77 Porsche 911 and the #54 Spirit of Race Ferrari 488 GTE closed out the class top three.
