News emerged over the weekend that the FIA WEC race at Interlagos in February is in doubt after series boss Gerard Neveu admitted they have “serious doubts and concerns” whether the race will go off as planned.

The FIA WEC is in the process of drawing up a ‘Plan B’ for their Season 8 Calendar after Neveu revealed that the 6 Hours of Sao Paulo, scheduled for Feb. 1, could be replaced on the 2019-20 WEC calendar due to undisclosed issues believed to be stemming from the event promoter and/or the local government.

Sources have revealed that Mexico City, Kyalami in South Africa and CoTA are all understood to have been considered as potential alternative venues due to sea-freighting routes and schedules.

Neveu briefed the teams over the Shanghai weekend and it is reported that a decision will be confirmed in the coming two weeks due to the time required to prepare transport of equipment, cars and team staff.
