British team Strakka Racing rolled out its latest Gibson 015S chassis today at Turweston Airfield, ahead of its debut in the FIA World Endurance Championship mid-season test at the Nürburgring next week.
Jonny Kane completed systems checks following the final assembly of the chassis over the past two weeks at Strakka’s Silverstone workshop.
The Gibson 015S replaces Strakka’s own-developed S103 chassis that now changes role to development mule for the squad’s 2017 LMP1 challenger, and enables Strakka to continue racing for the balance of the 2015 season.
“The Gibson went together well and as a proven car, we didn’t experience any issues during build up and this initial running,” said technical director Jay Davenport. “We now go straight to the Nürburgring test on July 26 before returning to UK to paint it and apply the livery ahead of the race weekend.”
Current Strakka driver linup Danny Watts, Jonny Kane and Nick Leventis will pilot the Gibson LMP2 car, while Strakka’s LMP1 program begins its development phase.
