Lucas di Grassi will remain with Audi Sport Abt for second season of the FIA all new electric single seater championship.

The Audi LMP1 driver announced the news via Twitter, “I’m proud to announce I will continue with Audi Sport Abt Formula E Team during the second season of Formula E” said Di Grassi.

The Brazilian, who won the first ever Formula E race in Beijing in September and has since managed to secure three more podiums, securing his place at the top of the championship.

Di Grassi went on to say, “I didn’t hesitate for a second when it came to extending the contract,”

“We’ve been through a lot in the time we’ve spent together. Success as well as small setbacks, which just brought us even closer. The team and I have ambitious targets in Formula E – and I’m convinced that we will reach them together.”

Team owner Hans-Jürgen Abt was pleased to secure Di Grassi’s services for a second season, “I’m delighted and also quite proud that Lucas will be part of our team in the future,” said Abt.

“We both knew what we wanted and reached an agreement immediately. The negotiations didn’t even take thirty minutes before we shook hands.”

With a new contract signed, Di Grassi will go into the first round of the European Formula E season at Monaco in confident mood. The 30 year-old currently leads the championship by one point from fellow Brazilian Nelson Piquet Jr.
