Lucas di Grassi has been stripped of his victory from this weekends Berlin ePrix.
The Brazilian was disqualified after his Abt squad was deemed to have modified his front wing faring’s, meaning Dragon Racing’s Jerome d’Ambrosio has been awarded victory.
Scrutineers found three aspects of di Grassis car in breach of the rules:
1.Front wing farings had been modified to include internal metal reinforcing rods
2.Six of the eight wholes in the wing had been sealed
3.The remaining two were found to have had helicoil inserts and chamfers made and the front flap and gurney LH 220 had a filler layer added and a chamfer made
The team argued that these changes were made as a result of repairs and they offered no competitive advantage but the stewards still believed they were in breach of Article 3.1.
The team decided not to appeal the decision meaning D’Ambrosio clamied his first win of the season and Nelson Piquet Jr leads the championship by ten points.
