Visit Florida Racing took delivery of its Riley Mk. 30 Gibson and immediately moved to shakedown with the all new 2017 LMP2 car at Carolina Motorsports Park on Saturday.
The Floridia based team announced in November that it would run the Riley-Gibson, ending months of rumours over which manufacturer would replace it’s Corvette DP.
By opting for the Riley-Gibson Visit Florida Racing becomes one of only a few IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Prototype teams to choose an LMP2 car over the more ‘customisable’ DPi options for the 2017 season – possibly a strategy with an eye on a Le Mans entry?
Renger van der Zande and Marc Goossens will pilot the LMP2 during 2017 and were present at the Carolina Motorsports Park on Saturday for the shakedown ahead of this week’s December Test at Daytona International Speedway.
The photos, provided by the team, give us the first view of the somewhat austere looking Multimatic-Riley LMP2 machine following the unveiling of the rather beautiful Riley-based Mazda RT24-P last month.
