At this year’s annual salon Rétromobile, à Paris, Automobile Club de l’Ouest President Pierre Fillon was the recipient of the 24 Hour of Le Mans Drivers Club’s first ever “Person of Merit” (en Francais, «personne méritante») award.
“2016 marks the creation of a trophy that we attribute to a deserving person,” explained Gérard Larrousse, former driver and president of the club. “That’s why we are proud to award the first prize to the President of the ACO, Pierre Fillon, who has done so much for the Club, his vision allowing us today to enjoy the race in exceptional conditions. “
“Without Pierre Fillon we would not have Porsche Experience Center at Le Mans.” added Marc Ouayoun, Managing Director of Porsche France. “It must be said that the ACO has given an incredible boost to endurance racing.”
President Fillon dedicated this trophy (created by the sculptor and photographer Manu Zurini) to everyone at the ACO who all work towards the success of the club which this year celebrates its 110 years anniversary.
