Following the success of the first Road to Le Mans in 2016, the ‘jewel in the crown’ of the ELMS supporting Michelin Le Mans Cup returns to the iconic Sarthe circuit with a two race schedule for 2017.

The two rounds will both run for 55 minutes with the first taking place on Thursday 15th June at 17:30. The second round will take to the track on Saturday 17th June at 11:30 before the start of the 85th Le Mans 24 Hours.

The Road To Le Mans, which gives LMP3 and GT3 machinery access to the legendary 13.2km French track, is the second race on the Michelin Le Mans Cup’s Calendar.

For 2017 the grid has been expanded from 42 (2016) to 46 cars with all teams entered for the full Michelin Le Mans Cup guaranteed a grid spot for the La Sarthe event. Remaining sports will be subject to selection committee decision with priority going to those already competing in the European Le Mans Series, Asian Le Mans Series, Asian Le Mans Sprint Cup and the Weathertech Sportscar Championship.

Each race will be run over 55 minutes and the crew must consist of two drivers with at least one being Bronze rated. A minimum driving time of 20 minutes per driver is set in the race and a pit stop lasting one minute minimum within a defined time window.

The teams have a free choice of which driver will take part in the first qualifying session while the second one is for Bronze drivers only.

The list of entries for the 2nd Road to Le Mans will be announced mid-April.
