With just a few days before the this year’s Le Mans 24 Hours is due to start, the single remaining Ginetta G60-LT-P1 entered by Team LNT has been withdrawn according to Endurance 24. The number of entrants for the rescheduled September event therefore falls to 59 and only 5 LMP1s will line up to compete next week.

Factory driver Michael Simpson, Guy Smith and Christopher Dyson were slated to run in the British prototype.

This late decision nevertheless seems logical given the difficulties that have been encountered from the start of the Ginetta’s LMP1 program. The G60-LT-P1 has had a torrid time in the FIA World Endurance Championship and it’s last appearance was in the 8 Hours of Bahrain at the end of last year. Is this the sad end to Ginetta’s LMP1 journey? Let’s hope not.
