The Automobile Club de l’Ouest’s Sport Committee has decided to increase the number of LMP3 constructors and, quelle surprise! has selected French company, Norma founded by Norbert Santos as the sixth supplier.
The LMP3 chassis are eligible to run in the European and Asian Le Mans Series as well as other European series such as the V de V.
Norma, based in the south west of France, also has a branch in Florida (Norma North America), allowing for better penetration of the US, a clear target market for the ACO LMP3 formula.
The design of the Norma LMP3 is already at an advanced stage, with plans to have at least one LM P3 racing before the end of the season.
All cars are powered by a NISMO normally-aspirated 420 bhp V8 prepared and maintained by Oreca, X-trac supplied gearboxes and Magneti Marelli electronics.
Following today’s announcement, the names of the six constructors are as follows: Norma (France/USA), Ginetta (UK), Onroak Automotive (France), Riley Technologies (USA), Adess AG (Germany) and Dome (Japan).
