Toyota topped the timing in the new-look 2014 LMP1 class, with the Japanese manufacturer claiming pole for Sunday’s FIA WEC season-opening 6H of Silverstone.
A last minute flyer of a lap by Kaz Nakajima planted the #7 Toyota TS040 Hybrid on the top spot by 5/1000 of a second! With the other top two places going one-a-piece to Audi and Porsche, the new-look LMP1 class is set to be hard fought tomorrow.
Rebellion Racing qualified 7th with the #13 car 1:44.286, less than 1 second behind the #20 Porsche 919 of Webber, Berhnard & Hartley.
LMP2 class pole honors went to the No. 26 G-Drive Racing Morgan-Nissan of Olivier Pla and Roman Rusinov.
