DS Virgins driver, Jean-Eric Vergne will now not miss Saturday’s Buenos Aires ePrix through illness.

The news was initially confirmed during Saturdays first free practice session, in which Vergne’s team mate, Sam Bird set the fastest time.

DS Virgin Racing tweeted, “BREAKING NEWS ‪@JeanEricVergne has food poising still wants to race but ‪@1Taia has said no given Argentinian heat. More information to follow”

It had been reported that Vergne may be replaced by local hero Jose Maria Lopez who is doing PR work. However, Grand Prix Times reported Vergne had returned to the track for FP2, and despite not taking part in the session completed his preparations and rested up ahead of qualifying.

DS Virgin confirmed to Grand Prix times that Vergne had been medically approved to race by the FIA, and Tai is now happy for him to take part as originally planned.

As a result, the Frenchman will enter qualifying alongside teammate Sam Bird later this afternoon.
