Triple Eight Racing has announced the signing of Alex Premat to partner Shane van Gisbergen for the V8 Supercars Enduros in 2016.
The Frenchman jumps ship from Gary Rogers Motorsport after four years, two as full-time driver and two as enduro driver alongside Scott McLaughlin.
Premat has been tempted away from the Volvo team, to help fulfil his personal goal of winning Bathurst.
“I’m proud to be part of such a great team, especially with the successful history that Triple Eight Race Engineering has in V8 Supercars and at Bathurst,” said Premat.
“I will do everything in my power to bring them great results; personally, my goal is to be the first French Bathurst winner!”
Red Bull Racing Australia’s Team Manager, Mark Dutton believes the 33-year-old is the best man for the job when it comes to co-driving with Van Gisbergen.
“We only ever go for the best enduro co-drivers that are available, so when Alex became available we jumped at the opportunity,” said Dutton.
“We are very excited to have him as part of the team. Alex is well regarded around the world, and I don’t think we have seen his full potential in a V8 Supercar just yet.”
Premat will appear alongside Van Gisbergen at the Wilson Security Sandown 500, Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 and Castrol Gold Coast 600 for 2016.
The team have previously confirmed that Paul Dumbrell and Steven Richards will return alongside Jamie Whincup and Craig Lowndes respectively.
